Hi! I’m Morgan Ellis, a 36-year-old self-taught cook from Austin, Texas, and the heart behind Worthy Bite. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s this: a single, thoughtfully made bite can carry more love, memory, and meaning than an entire five-course meal. That’s what drives everything I do in the kitchen.
My journey into food didn’t start with a grand plan. I grew up in a big, noisy family where dinner was the one time we all sat still, and that made it sacred. My mom cooked by instinct, no measuring cups in sight, and my dad was the kind of guy who could grill in a thunderstorm. I learned early on that food isn’t just fuel, it’s how we celebrate, heal, connect, and remember.
I never imagined turning that love into something like Worthy Bite. It started as a little recipe notebook I kept in my kitchen drawer. Over time, friends asked me for “that roasted squash thing” or “the salad dressing you brought to game night,” and eventually I thought, why not share it with more people?
Now, this space is where I pour everything I’ve learned, from flavor layering to my not-so-secret obsession with cast iron cooking. I don’t have a professional title, but I’ve hosted enough backyard dinners and tested enough marinades at 2 a.m. to know my way around a stove. I write my recipes with real life in mind, things you can actually make, with ingredients you can actually find, and flavors that make you pause mid-bite and smile.
I love combining rustic, wholesome ingredients with little touches that elevate a dish, like a squeeze of citrus at the end or a hint of spice that builds slowly. Some days I’m roasting seasonal vegetables and making tahini dressings; other days, I’m elbow-deep in a family-style lasagna that could feed an army (or just me, over several days, no shame).
Worthy Bite is for anyone who loves food with heart. Whether you’re an everyday home cook, someone who plans dinners three days in advance, or the type who wings it based on what’s in the fridge, you belong here. I’m not about perfection, I’m about intention. About making moments, not just meals.
So welcome. Grab a fork, stay curious, and let’s make every bite a worthy one.
