Cheesy Pull Apart Christmas Bread

Cheesy Pull Apart Christmas Bread

  • Total Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough or 16 frozen dinner rolls, thawed
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese pearls or cubes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs and cherry tomatoes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. This ensures that the bread does not stick and makes for an easy cleanup after the holiday festivities.
  2. Take your pizza dough and divide it into approximately 16 to 18 equal sized pieces. If you are using pre-portioned dinner rolls, you can skip this step and move straight to stuffing them with cheese.
  3. Flatten each piece of dough into a small disk using your palm. Place a mozzarella pearl or a cube of cheese in the center, then wrap the dough around the cheese and pinch the seams tightly to seal it. Roll it between your hands to form a smooth ball.
  4. On your prepared baking sheet, arrange the dough balls in the shape of a triangle to resemble a Christmas tree. Start with one ball at the top, then two below it, and continue increasing the number in each row. Use the remaining dough balls to create a small trunk at the bottom center.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 18 to 22 minutes. You are looking for a beautiful golden brown color on the outside and for the dough to be fully cooked through and springy to the touch.
  6. While the bread is baking, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, and salt in a small bowl. As soon as the bread comes out of the oven, brush the warm butter mixture generously over the entire tree. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese while the butter is still wet.
