Christmas Wedge Salad Wreath

Christmas Wedge Salad Wreath

  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 large heads of iceberg lettuce, cut into small wedges
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8 slices of turkey bacon, cooked until crispy and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles
  • 1/4 cup fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup creamy blue cheese dressing or ranch dressing
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds, for extra festive color
  • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by removing the outer leaves of the iceberg lettuce heads. Cut each head into small, manageable wedges, roughly three inches wide. Arrange these wedges in a large circle on a round serving platter, leaving a hole in the center to create the wreath shape. Ensure the wedges are snug against each other so the wreath looks full and lush.
  2. Place the turkey bacon in a skillet over medium heat. Cook until it is very crispy, which usually takes about five to seven minutes. Once done, place the strips on a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Crumble the turkey bacon into small bits once it has cooled down.
  3. Evenly distribute the halved cherry tomatoes and diced red onions over the lettuce wedges. These act as the ornaments on your wreath. Sprinkle the crispy turkey bacon crumbles and the blue cheese crumbles over the top. The variety of textures makes every bite interesting.
  4. Scatter the chopped chives and pomegranate seeds over the entire wreath. The green chives look like pine needles, and the pomegranate seeds add a jewel-like shimmer. Finish with a generous dusting of freshly cracked black pepper for a bit of warmth.
  5. Just before serving, drizzle the creamy dressing in a circular motion over the wreath. Alternatively, you can place a small bowl of dressing in the center of the wreath for guests to help themselves. This keeps the lettuce extra crisp if the salad sits out for a while.
